“This route responds to strong demand from business travellers, students, and leisure passengers, while supporting growth in economic ties between India and the UK.” — Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo
Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer of IndiGo, described the planned route as “a proud milestone and a step forward in strengthening IndiGo’s global footprint,” noting that the service is expected to serve business travellers, students, leisure travellers, and individuals visiting family.
The Mumbai–London link is expected to streamline corporate travel, allowing executives, investors, and delegations to travel more quickly between the financial centres of Mumbai and London.
Ross Baker, Chief Customer Officer at Heathrow, emphasized that the new service “will create opportunities for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange” and deepen connections between the two countries.
Heathrow will become the 45th international destination and 138th overall destination in the IndiGo network, following long-haul launches to Manchester, Amsterdam, and Copenhagen.
The airline currently operates 2200 daily flights connecting 90 domestic and 40 international destinations and has served over 118 million passengers in FY25. Tickets can be booked through the website, mobile app, and authorized travel partners, allowing passengers multiple ways to plan their journeys.
