Former HPCA President Anurag Thakur inaugurated Gumma stadium on 01 June 2017. Located in the upper Shimla area, the stadium is built at an altitude of 5500 feet above the sea level. The pavilion of the stadium is named after 25 year old Sushma Verma who is the resident of Shimla and the first cricketer from this state to represent India in international cricket who made her debut in the Indian cricket team in 2014 England Tour.
The HPCA’s stadium at Gumma has been constructed with an outlay of Rs 3 crore and own facilities like a pavilion, dressing rooms, practice area and four turf wickets. Sushma is one of the ace players and is an inspiration to young cricketers and women players. However coming up of ground at this area will give an opportunity to growing cricketers to showcase their talent and inspire them to aim at reaching greater heights.
