Shimla: Himachal Pradesh would host Paragliding Pre-World Cup at Bir-Billing in Kangra district from March 31 to April 5. The six day event is being organised by the Department of Tourism and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali.
Additional chief secretary (Tourism) RD Dhiman, who presided over a meeting of Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation on Saturday to review the arrangements of the Pre-World Cup, informed that about 100 participants from 28 countries will compete for the title. He said that Bir-Billing is very famous for this adventurous sports and earlier world level event was organised in the year 2015. Bir-Billing is one of the best paragliding site in the world, he added.
For the safety and rescue purpose during the event, the state government has arranged a helicopter.
Yunus, Director Tourism and Col. Neeraj Rana, Director Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali were also present in the meeting.
