Delhi: Ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections, wrestler Dalip Singh Rana better known as The Great Khali, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in Delhi on Thursday.

Earlier last year, photographs of him meeting Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal went viral. There was speculation in the political arena that he may join the Aam Aadmi Party before the Punjab elections. However, on Thursday, he joined the BJP. Punjab will go to the polls on February 20.

After returning from the WWE ring, he has been living in Punjab for a long time and has a tremendous fan following there.

“I’m glad to have joined BJP. I feel that PM Modi’s work for the nation makes him the right Prime Minister. So, I thought why not be a part of his governance for the nation’s development,” Khali said at the BJP’s headquarter in New Delhi.
