New Delhi: Starting from Friday, Delhi Metro passengers can now enjoy seamless travel with the introduction of a digital smart card through the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s (DMRC) app. The new Multiple Journey QR Ticket (MJQRT) enables users to recharge and manage their metro journeys digitally.
The MJQRT functions like the familiar smart card but offers the added convenience of managing travel via the app, ‘DMRC Momentum Delhi Sarthi 2.0’. Users can recharge their balance up to ₹ 3,000 and track their trips, payments, and recharges all within the app.

DMRC announced that the registration for MJQRT begins with a nominal amount of ₹ 150, which will be credited for use on the metro system. No security deposit is required, and passengers can top up their balance in ₹ 50 increments using digital payment methods like UPI, debit, or credit cards.
Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director for Corporate Communication at DMRC, underscored the simplicity of the MJQRT system, explaining that passengers must maintain a minimum balance of ₹ 60 for travel. Users will benefit from a 10% discount during peak hours (8 am to 12 pm and 5 pm to 9 pm) and a 20% discount during off-peak hours.
The new initiative, marking the first QR-based multiple journey product in India, boosts convenience and promotes environmental sustainability by cutting down the need for physical cards. In case of a lost or damaged mobile device, the balance stays safe and can be accessed by logging into another device.

The MJQRT is the latest addition to the expanding fare options of DMRC, which already include single journey QR tickets, National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), and DMRC smart cards. Dayal highlighted the importance of this move as part of a broader effort to provide multiple fare media and payment options, making the metro experience more flexible for commuters.
DMRC Managing Director Vikas Kumar, who introduced the facility on Thursday, shared his optimism about the initiative, noting that it simplifies travel, promotes a more eco-friendly option, and adds to the overall convenience for passengers across the metro network.
