Listed in UNESCO World Heritage site, Great Himalayan National park has become one of the prominent places among the wildlife lovers to enjoy the unmatchable wilderness. The park has been defining the most diversified beauty due to its pristine location with versatile attraction. There are options of rafting, climbing, fishing, trekking, bird watching etc.
The national park is a well-defined home to the number of animals and plants due to the optimum conditions offered for their proper breeding and upbringing. Different animals found in the park include Snow Leopard (Upper GHNP), Blue Sheep, Himalayan Brown Bear, Himalayan Tahr, Musk Deer, Serow, Barking Deer, Goral, Himalayan Black Bear, Red Fox.
Among the various spectacular birds found, some of them are Western Tragopan (State Bird), Cheer Pheasant, Monal, Koklass, Snow Partridge, Hill Partridge and Himalayan Snowcock.
Flora of the region includes Maple trees, Oak Trees, Cedar Trees. Other than this park is also home to a lot of medicinal plants and herbs.
The region is easily accessible by road and air. One can take flight from Delhi – Kullu (Bhuntar), weather permitting or may reach by road as the region has some of the good services for Volvo until Kullu or one can hire private taxis.
To make the wildlife experience more rewarding, GHNP is attracting the tourists from all regions around the country. There is the provision of many accommodations like guest houses, lodges, and camps in the vicinity or at their outskirts. If one is among those passionate lovers of the wild creatures, a visit to this national park will be worth a visit.
