Everybody love ecology and appreciate the dear Mother Nature. That is why we always seek places that reveal its original beauty.  When it comes to Eco – travel, travellers prefer to visit the regions that do not have overdeveloped tourism, and try to travel like a local.

Himachal is bestowed with unique features in its climate, its rich Natural and man-made heritage and above all the warm and peace loving people. Each place has its own unique charm and appeal. However much of the tourism related activities are concentrated in the four major hill stations of Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala and Dalhousie. Due to this lopsided growth pattern, the bulk of the tourist does not get an opportunity to visit the countryside. There are however very few places that have the vast expanse of untouched and raw land that is unsurpassed-able in beauty. Conservation of the natural sites and destinations is held an important element here so that future generations don’t gets deprived of features of the environment untouched by human intervention. This will in turn arouse an understanding of the importance of keeping our environment clean and beautiful.

To De-congest and disperse over flowing city tourist destinations and bring the tourists closer to nature and ensure adequate economic return to the local communities, Himachal Pradesh Forest Department framed the Eco-tourism Policy during 2001 subsequently revised in 2005. Green forests, wildlife, nature parks and the local community all are crucial link in Eco-tourism. However frequently occurring and long traffic jams, climate change and over exploitation of resources in these regions all are degrading the environment. Himachal represents a rich part of Himalayan bio-diversity and ecosystem and therefore we should promote our state as ecotourism destination.
