The incredible land of Chamba mysteriously fetches surprises and offers a lot as you move discovering. Standing at a height of 3062 meters, Chakund Lake is one of the hidden lakes in the wilderness of Chamba. The lake has a well-marked track. The trek starts from Kiri Village, which is en-route Saho from Chamba. And happens to be the last village from where this short yet challenging trek of 11 km starts.
As one embarks on the trek one come across each divine setting of inhabitants in the exquisite nature. Local folks report that the Gujjar shepherds hold every inch of the land there. The lake offers some of the majestic views. While on trek one passes by the lush green meadows and the wild mountains.
Khajund is a small lake at the feet of Bhala Village near Saho probably 30 Kms from the Chamba town. Offering one a small herculean trek to reach the lake, the trek starts from Bhalla village which passes through dense woods.
The lake remained a place of worship where people use to revere and pray God Khajji Nag. It is also believed that the serpent God Khajji Nag lived here for a while before moving to Khajjiyar Lake. Both these lakes, Khajund and Khajjiyar, are hence named after this very serpent God. Kids from nearby villages can also be seen trying their luck with fishing.
