Delhi: Travellers from the United Arab Emirates now have three additional Indian airports where Visa on Arrival can be completed, following an expansion that includes Kochi, Calicut and Ahmedabad alongside earlier locations.
The three airports join New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, bringing the total to nine international gateways where the procedure can be completed by UAE nationals.
Eligibility
A traveller must hold an earlier Indian e-Visa or an earlier regular visa, even if it was not used for any journey. Entry requires a passport with a minimum of six months validity and at least contain two blank pages.
Travel may relate to tourism, business, conferences or medical visits for a period not longer than 60 days.
Persons with parents or grandparents born in Pakistan or earlier residence in that country must apply through the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi or the Consulate General of India in Dubai. First-time visitors are advised to apply for an e-Visa before travel.
Procedure
A traveller completes Annexure-A and the disembarkation card, then hands these forms to officers at the visa counter after landing. Forms may be filled through the Indian Visa Su-Swagatam mobile app or the official portal before arrival.
Authorities may request proof of funds, confirmation of accommodation and a return or onward ticket.
Fee and Period of Stay
The charge is Rs 2,000 per traveller, including children. A stay of up to 60 days is permitted. A traveller can enter twice within that period through a double-entry Visa on Arrival. The facility cannot be extended or converted, and no limit applies to how many times a traveller may use it.
The expanded network is aimed at easing movement for UAE visitors and supporting wider travel between the two countries.
